Amy Daileda

Amy Daileda’s vibrant paintings invite you to experience a world of awe and joy. A Portland artist enthralled with the details, Amy explores our connection to the universe through nature. Amy has a degree in painting from the University of Nevada, Reno. She was an award-winning slow fashion designer for 25 years before returning to painting in 2020. Her work has been shown in London and all over the PNW in galleries, art fairs, and boutiques. Amy works out of her home studio that overlooks her Backyard Habitat Certified garden, which is a constant source of inspiration. Herbalism, meditation, macro photography, botany, and native plant research all inform her work.

Interview

What inspires your art practice and keeps you motivated?
Color, nature, details, and my unending need to create keep me motivated! I love exploring the world through the details and am always trying to express the awe and joy I find there with others.


How does your mission as an artist influence the work you create?
My goal is to share the awe and joy I find in the details of nature with others. We are all connected, and I hope to inspire others to see that connection through my work.


Can you share a key part of your creative process that helps you stay focused?
Maintaining a regular meditation practice helps with my focus. Having a schedule for studio time helps too!


What mindset tip do you rely on to overcome challenges in your art career?
"Trust the timing" and "Decide and move forward" are two simple mantras that I find extremely helpful.


How do you hope your art impacts the world or your community?
I would love to have my art bring a little joy and awe to the world. If my art could help people see that we are all connected, we are all part of nature—we are made of the same molecules as the earth and stars—I would be grateful. The little things do matter, we all matter, our actions matter, and we need to take our role in the world seriously!
