Anastazja Jasińska

Anastazja was raised as the middle child in a lively Polish family based in the UK, in the East Midlands.

Navigating life while experiencing loss, a heart condition, and migraines before the age of 18, Anastazja found solace in art and creativity.

After completing a BA Hons. in Illustration at Norwich University of the Arts, Anastazja worked in customer service by day and on her creative practice by night.
The natural world has always been a source of inspiration: the patterns, the shifting colours in a sunset or sunrise, and the way light changes the things around us.

Interview

What inspires your art practice and keeps you motivated?
I’m inspired by the way energy moves and is translated. I’m inspired by the science and patterns of the natural world. I’m motivated to keep making because my creative practice is good for my wellbeing, and I enjoy finding new ways to visually articulate energy.

How does your mission as an artist influence the work you create?
My mission as an artist influences me to look deeper and take time indulging in the wonder, the awe, and the sensory experiences of being alive.

Can you share a key part of your creative process that helps you stay focused?
A key part of my creative process is working with music playing; it helps me create an environment conducive to finding and maintaining flow. Another key part of my creative process is engaging with live experiences, such as gigs, shows, and the local community. This allows me to regulate and stay grounded.

What mindset tip do you rely on to overcome challenges in your art career?
“Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished.” — Lao Tzu. Flowers bloom in their own time, given the right environment and circumstances. I know I can overcome challenges if I keep following my curiosity, illustrate the energies that move me, and pursue opportunities that excite me. Whatever is meant for me will not pass me by.

How do you hope your art impacts the world or your community?
I hope my art inspires others to pursue their own curiosities and embrace nature as an infinite source of energy, love and creativity.
