Stephanie Roth - Pattern Babe
Pattern Babe was born out of necessity. Creating without sharing feels too isolating. Creativity is not a solo pursuit—it should be shared with the world. Like a fire burning from within the soul, the creative mind never sleeps. The only solace is getting it out into the world. Pattern Babe is about finding your passion and endlessly pursuing it, as if there is no choice in the matter. Be fun. Be beautiful. Be bold. Be forever you.

Interview
What inspires your art practice and keeps you motivated?
I keep coming back to art. Creativity, to me, is the most important gift you can share with others. I want everyone to find something they can celebrate and enjoy—whether it is something I made or they made.
How does your mission as an artist influence the work you create?
My mission is to encourage others to find what they love and to celebrate their uniqueness while having fun. I want to be able to do that with my own art and give myself permission to play.
Can you share a key part of your creative process that helps you stay focused?
Creating is my form of entertainment, so I am not consuming other forms of media often. My only exception is listening to podcasts or courses—but usually while multi-tasking. I have very little time as a busy working mom, so I give myself a little bit of room without too much pressure.
What mindset tip do you rely on to overcome challenges in your art career?
To not wait for permission or for the timing to be right. Those things rarely happen, especially when new to creating or launching an art business.
How do you hope your art impacts the world or your community?
I don’t know if it sounds silly, but I think this is the dream for those who do art for the pure love of it. I want to add something to the world that didn’t exist before—and potentially, it finds the right person. I’m still trying to find my voice and my audience as a surface pattern designer, but that is my hope: that it creates joy for others, even if it’s not traditional art, but something they can wear.
